Choose where your security camera recordings live
Keep recordings in a folder on a computer or compatible recorder you control, or add a supported encrypted cloud-backup destination. CHIRP does not require a CHIRP-owned cloud recording archive.
Remote viewing and configured cloud backup use authenticated encrypted paths. Local-disk encryption depends on the computer and storage configuration you choose. Indoor cameras are prohibited in Airbnb listings; all cameras must follow current platform rules and local law.

Can I connect a camera today?
The CHIRP camera experience is not yet generally available and this page is clearly labeled Coming Soon.
Will every RTSP camera work?
The product is designed to work with almost any standard IP camera that exposes a supported RTSP stream, but final compatibility requirements will be published before release.
Where will CHIRP Lens store my recordings?
Choose local-only recording on a computer or compatible recorder you control, or add a supported cloud-backup destination. CHIRP does not require storage in a CHIRP-owned recording archive.
Are camera feeds and recordings encrypted?
Remote viewing uses authenticated encrypted connections, and configured cloud backup is encrypted. Encryption for local files depends on the disk and computer configuration you choose.
Can motion in one part of the image trigger recording?
Yes. Draw a front-door, gate, or driveway area so movement there can start recording while motion outside the selected areas is ignored. The saved clip still shows the full camera view.
Can a friend see cameras at only one property?
Yes. Camera permission follows the selected CHIRP home, so a trusted helper or family member can see that property without gaining access to your other homes.
